Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
