Two dozen Nigerian-born Young Scholars Freed More Than Seven Days Post Abduction

A total of two dozen Nigerian young women captured from their educational institution over a week ago have been released, the country's president stated.

Armed assailants raided the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Nigeria's northwestern region on 17 November, taking the life of an employee and abducting 25 students.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu applauded security forces regarding their "immediate reaction" to the incident - while specific details of the girls' release had not been clarified.

The continent's largest country has witnessed numerous cases of captures in recent years - including over 250 children taken from faith-based academy days ago still missing.

Via official communication, a designated representative within the government verified that every student taken from learning institution located in the area had returned safely, mentioning that the occurrence triggered copycat kidnappings within additional regional provinces.

The president announced that additional forces will be assigned to "vulnerable areas to stop additional occurrences related to captures".

Via additional communication through social media, the president stated: "Aerial forces will continue ongoing monitoring across distant regions, aligning missions with ground units to properly detect, isolate, disturb, and neutralise every threatening factor."
