Ukraine Launches Mass Production of New Defensive Drones

Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to enhance its air defences. The first three manufacturers have started manufacturing, with 11 more getting ready to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Situations

The drones utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and proved effective “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Latest Attack on the Capital Described as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six people were killed and many others injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital shortly after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Zelenskyy stated the nation was targeted by 430 drones and multiple missiles. Those killed were inside their residences in an apartment building on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures were damaged, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Protest Following Diplomatic Compound Destruction

Azerbaijan announced it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador this past Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. An explosion from a Russian Iskander missile destroyed part of the compound's boundary wall and caused significant destruction to the embassy grounds, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. No one injured, and an official representative confirmed the Kyiv embassy was continuing to operate.

Moscow's Aerial Bomb Production Experiences Significant Increase

Russia plans to manufacture as many as 120,000 glide bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official disclosed, including 500 of a new, extended-range model that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Russian forces have been launching hundreds of aerial bombs daily, with last month’s daily average standing at about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's maritime terminal of the port city halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its military had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to diminish the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

Global Restrictions Affect Russian Oil Producer

The number two energy company Lukoil said this past Friday it is negotiating with interested parties regarding its foreign assets after recent sanctions from the UK and the US and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after the final agreements have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” the company commented.

Zelenskyy Plans Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members following his trip to France, the chamber of deputies disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet representatives from both chambers of the legislature during his visit, an official announcement confirmed.
